A Skin Care Gem
For many of us when we talk about taking care of ourselves or treating ourselves to a calm and relaxing evening in, our first thought goes to skincare. Let’s admit it — spa’s are expensive with facials ranging from $100 to $300 a treatment and with busy schedules we often find ourselves with a lack of time to fit in a hair-washing day let alone a trip to our local “relaxation” center. However, like the savvy men and women we are, we have found a simple solution: face masks. Why spend all that money when we can treat ourselves to the same process without ever leaving the comfort of our worn couches and favorite robes?
With the skincare industry booming, it’s easy to get lost in the millions of products out there all claiming to soothe, tighten, or brighten the skin with ingredients that are both natural and questionable. Each one coming in a different form with a different time limit, battling it out to become a staple in your skincare routine. In my own search for a new face mask to add to my routine, I decided to try Aloe-Unique’s Aloe & Honey Gel Mask. Compared to the brightly colored and overtly marketed face masks of competitor’s, the simple green tube caught my eye but not only that, the actual product itself is formulated with all skincare types in mind. Made with Aloe Ferox and Honey, this mask promises to tighten, soothe, and lift tired skin — all of which we are victims to in our everyday lives.

How to Use
After cleansing my skin, I applied a thick layer of the product as suggested, evenly over my entire face making sure to avoid the immediate eye area. The directions for the product are different between the website and the product itself, however, I recommend following the websites directions first to see how your skin reacts before leaving the product on for an extended period of time. Just as you should with all skincare products, make sure to do a sample test on a small area of skin before use. With that in mind, after applying the product, I let it sit for about 12–15 minutes while I did chores around my apartment (the website suggests the intended time to be between 10–20 minutes, so choose what time works best for you and your skin). When the timer went off, I rinsed it with warm water and enjoyed the feeling of fresh, beautiful skin.
When looking back at the promises made by this product, I can agree that after using the mask my skin felt soothed, refreshed, and tightened. Not only did it ease my sensitive skin, but it also didn’t cause any additional breakouts to my acne prone skin which helped the product receive brownie points in my book. My only note is that for those who tend to dislike fragrance in their skincare products, this mask does have a strong citrus scent. The smell wasn’t irritating or too aggressive, I found it quite enjoyable, however, it is something to keep in mind when trying the product for yourself.
